Extreme surface hardness and outstanding corrosion protection is obtained by eloxal coating, which maintains very fine tolerances.

Our processing techniques include anodizing of aluminum alloys such as AlZnMgCu1.5, AlMgCuPb, AlCuMg1-2 etc., which are considered the most difficult for eloxal coating. Machine shops routinely prefer this type of alloy which is considered the best for machining and for its tensile strength.

The color range of the coatings includes the standard colours black, red, blue, titanium, orange and gold. Other colors are possible on demand.

Our strength is in the processing of high quality articles. To guarantee reproducibility of colours, we have available very modern spectral-photometry equipment.

Prior to eloxal coating all parts are placed in special titanium racks. In the next step the parts are degreased in a low-alkaline cleaning bath. If required by client's specifications, additional processing steps such as alkaline etching or chemical brightening can be added. Under the influence of a DC current the ELectrolytical OXidation of ALuminum takes place in a sulfuric acid solution (electrolyte). The Al-part is arranged as the anode in the electric circuit (> anodizing). The Al-part is artificially oxidized to Al2O3. In contrast to other methods such as chrome-plating, eloxal means that the coating is created by the transformation of the base material itself. This is why we have to know the exact composition of the alloys used.

The process parameters have to be established for each individual alloy. High performance materials are anodized using a special process. Thus we are able to coat the alloy-parts with a superb decorative quality. Because of the micro porosity of eloxal surfaces, colour pigments can be incorporated as specified by our clients. In the final sealing step all colour pigments are "locked" into the eloxal coating resulting in maximum corrosion protection and ultra-violet stability.

Materials:

We utilize all kinds of regular malleable alloys. Chemical brightening with our process is restricted to copper-free materials.

Dimensional accuracy:

The eloxal surface is created electro-chemically from the base material itself and "grows" partially "into" 2/3 of the total eloxal coating thickness and "out of" 1/3 of the base material. Therefore a coating of 25 µm results in a "growth" of approx. 8 µm (i. e. 16 µm over the diameter).

Dimensions of coatings:

Depending on the materials used, eloxal coatings between 5 µm and 25 µm can be considered as normal.

Hardness of coatings:

The surface hardness depends on the materials used and varies between 150 and 300 MHV 0.025.
